My CAMIGUIN Experience

OK so it’s my first time to write a blog. 🙂

With P10,000 in our pockets, Rey and I went to Camiguin.

Going to CDO

From Davao, we rode a bus in Ecoland Terminal going to Cagayan via Buda. We boarded the Rural Transit airconditioned bus for P575.00

We rode the bus at 8pm and after 6 hours of mostly zigzagged roads (yes, I vomited), we arrived in Agora Bus Terminal in Cagayan at 3:00 am.

From Agora Bus Terminal, we rode a tricycle going to Cagayan Port for P60.00 (P30.00 each). Hmm, expensive it is, considering that the port is just near the bus terminal. We thought that we could have saved money if we asked another person to ride with us in a taxi, maybe we could have just spent P30 for the ride.

Going to Camiguin

Since we arrived too early in CDO, we had to wait for 4 hours in the port waiting area to buy our tickets in Ocean Jet. The ticketing booth opened at 7am. The Ocean Jet fast craft going to Camiguin is P600 which leaves only at 8:00 am. (Note: There is only one trip per day)

You can also book a ticket in the Ocean Jet’s website at http://www.oceanjet.net/

At 10:00 am, yahoo! We finally arrived in Camiguin via Benoni Ferry Terminal.

Camiguin Rides

Waiting for you are kuya’s with motorbikes and multicabs ready to take you to where you will be staying. In our case, we booked our accommodation in Yumbing. We rode a motorbike for P200 good for 2pax. Travel time is about 25-30mins. We also asked the driver, Kuya Monsoy to drive us for the next day in our whole day tour in Camiguin. We agreed at P800 for 1 day – actually that’s the rate for all motorbikes with driver. His number is 09161325909. We are happy with Kuya Monsoy because he is very friendly, drives safely and is always on time!

If you are with a group, you can rent a multicab with driver (maximum of 10pax) for P1,500 for 1 day and P2,500 for 2 days including pick-up and drop off at Benoni Port. I suggest you hire Kuya Cris. You can connect with him at https://www.facebook.com/camiguinkuyacriz.tour / http://crizjabay.wix.com/camiguin-comeagain . He is always online. 😉

Accommodation

We stayed at July’s Haven in Yumbing. Accommodation is P1,000/night with aircon and cable TV. It is a nice place because it is infront of a beach where you can see the beautiful White Island. I also love their hammocks and huts/cottages where you can just chill and enjoy the seaside air. They also have 2 talking birds – a parrot and a mayna to welcome you with their “ayo” and “good morning.”

Their facebook account is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Julys-Haven-Seaside-Lodge-Camiguin

You can make a reservation through 09267990452. They only offer complete meal during breakfast. However, they do serve rice for P15 each complete with plates, glass, spoon/fork and a bowl.

You can also look for different places to stay in this website http://www.silent-gardens.com/camiguin-hotelguide.php

Food

Yumbing is the perfect place to stay if you are on a budget. Just walk through their streets and you will find karinderyas where you can have a sumptous meal at not more than P50/person. One good place to eat is at Kainan Sa Tulay. Just infront of this karinderya is the Yumbing Public Market where you can buy some fresh fish and grill it. Would be a yummy island treat! You can also find barbeque stalls just around the corner.

Katibawasan Falls

Our 2nd stop is at the 250M Katibawasan Falls located at the foot of Mt. Timpoong. Entrance fee is P15. One thing I really have to mention is that the roads are all cemented!  It was quite a long drive from the main road going up to the falls, but there’s no bumpy road at all! So cold in here too!

Beautiful View

After Katibawasan Falls, we headed to the Sunken Cemetery but we stopped over at a beautiful view by the road.

Kuya Monsoy stopped over the Walkway to the Old Volcano and Stations of the Cross but we decided not to go up because we’re afraid we might get tired, so we took some photos at the entrance instead.

One of the places you should not miss is the famous Sunken Cemetery. You can actually cross to the big cross in a bangka for P20/head. We were camwhoring in this spot, I must admit. 😛
